Sleeping Bag Liners

Sleeping bag liners fulfil two primary functions, increasing hygiene and adding extra insulation. Cotton and silk liners can be used as stand alone lightweight sleeping bags in hotter climates, or as replacement bed linen in rustic hotels. The addition of insect repellents and anti-microbials give extra protection and enable travellers to use the sleeping bag liners for longer without having to wash them. When used in conjunction with sleeping bags, the heavier thermal liners increase the insulation properties, adding up to half a season. This gives greater flexibility and helps you to avoid buying different sleeping bags for different seasons. If you don't want extra insulation but a more hygienic sleeping system, then using a lightweight liner with your sleeping bag is the way forward, as it is far quicker and easier to launder a sleeping bag liner than it is to wash and dry a sleeping bag.
