Seamless Base Layer

Sub Zero Factor 1 Plus Seamless Base layer Thermal Underwear are manufactured from the same 100% polyamide yarn as the Factor 1 range of base layers but they are produced on Santoni circular seamless knitting machines. The individual needle selection on these machines allows a greater variety of detail to be included in the knitting of the garments, something that is unachievable in the traditional cut and sew process. The only seams required on the garments during production are the closure of the arms, shoulders and gussets. As these seamless designs use more yarn than the traditional Factor 1 thermal baselayers, they are slightly warmer.

Polyamide is the yarn of choice for Sub Zero baselayer thermal underwear because of its far superior qualities compared to polyester. To start with it is about 20% lighter, is a lot softer and is a lot more durable. Due to the polyamide fabric having to be dyed, we can also add other treatments that are permanently impregnated in to the yarn during this process. On all the Factor 1 Plus seamless base layers we add a hydrophilic treatment that actively takes perspiration away form the skin to the outside of the fabric. This leaves a warm dry layer of air next to the skin and also makes the fabric extremely quick drying after being washed. Finally, a very important feature of polyamide that is very often overlooked is that it is a lot more hostile to bacterial growth than polyester, enabling you to wear the seamless base layers for longer without having to wash them or be shunned by friends for the bad odour.
